We are a Cohesive Team Dedicated to Our Profession

In 1984 Ken Guy Kuryla and Joyce Marie Kuryla formed KGK in Hudson, Ohio. Originally established as a full-service landscape firm, KGK quickly impacted Northeast Ohio by symbolizing doing the right thing, quality over quantity, professionalism, problem solving, and design creativity. Surrounded by a gifted and talented team, KGK quickly raised the standard of design, construction, and performance. In 2017, KGK announced the official addition of Derek Lynn Kuryla to establish the second generation of the firm. With an extensive background and passion for landscape architecture, urban design, and planning, KGK began to expand their brand. Their partnership created a common goal of success through meeting the needs of their clients, facing and solving design challenges, and shaping the built and natural environment. Since then, KGK has evolved into a high end residential and commercial landscape architecture firm who also serves the landscape construction industry. Without being isolated to one ‘box,’ KGK blends a high level of design and/or construction for various quasi scale projects. Today KGK continues to strive for excellence through its guiding process of engage, design, and implement. This process allows KGK to take on diverse challenges, whether public, private, civic, social, environmental, commercial, or residential. We choose to define ourselves. We are not a design only firm; we are not a design build firm; we are not a construction firm, WE ARE KGK.

Our Core Values

We Do The Right Thing

Doing the right thing has led us to where we are today. Our culture relies on coming together for the greater good by shaping places that are locally significant, ecologically important, and socially active.

We Are Quality Driven

Quality over quantity will always define who we are as a team. We approach every day with a focus on quality. It begins with our client and partner relationships, continues throughout our team collaboration, and advances into our product.

We Are Problem Solvers

Our practice strives to inspire ourselves, others, and our industry to solve problems. We rely on one another to do and be better, provoke change, and help fix issues that we and our clients face. Our work is not complete until those issues are resolved.

We Are Professional

We treat ourselves, clients, and our surroundings with respect and professionalism. We understand and embrace the power of positive connections. We are passionate about improving those positive connections within our brand and product.

We Are Creative

We understand the importance of building authentic and trustworthy solutions for our clients. Our goal is to constantly advance the conventional norms. We rely on our team of leaders to re-imagine, plan, and create a cohesive organization of forward-thinking ideas.
