Hudson Veteran’s Memorial Stadium Entryway
Founder of Little Tykes and Hudson resident, Tom Murdough, along with several community-minded individuals, set out to build a new sports stadium for the Hudson School System. Our mission was to design and build a memorial on the stadium grounds honoring all Hudsonites who gave their lives serving their country throughout history. Over the next two years, the community would raise funds, matched by Mr. Murdough, to build a new complex for their home team, The Hudson Explorers.
As part of a community effort to build a new sports stadium, two families contributed funds for two memorials; together they became the focus of this project. Massive sandstone boulders anchor the memorial representing our historical wars. A circular red brick patio inlayed with a representation of the school mascot, the Explorer Ship, greets visitors to the Malson Family Garden. A brick plaza bordered with engraved stones leads to a memorial devoted to Hudson’s fallen heroes.
