Greenway Trail

Greenway Trail was a design-build project for a newly renovated home in Northeast Ohio. KGK was brought on to the team of architects and contractors to help create a site plan to turn the open lot into a beautiful, accessible space for the homeowner’s family to enjoy year-round. As a part of the consulting team, KGK helped design the concrete driveway and sidewalk layout, responding to the home’s architecture and site’s topography. A simple foundation planting plan was developed to emphasize the home’s clean lines and offer seasonal color. In the backyard, KGK’s involvement was more elaborate. Working to meet the family’s needs, KGK developed a terraced patio system with an accessible ramp connection. Dry-laid fieldstone walls, full color range bluestone, and rock faced sandstone caps were used to create a warm, natural color palette for the space. A gas firepit patio featuring a herringbone pattern was integrated into the design, providing the family a centralized spot to gather overlooking the adjacent lake. Sandstone bouldering was utilized to retain the terraces, lending the space a natural feel. A layered planting plan was composed to soften the space and provide much needed greenery. As a finishing touch, KGK created a lighting plan for the project, balancing safety and aesthetics, creating a warm glow around the property after dark.
