C Residence

Responding to the modern architecture and idyllic setting overlooking the Mill Pond Nature Preserve, the C Residence’s design borrowed heavily from the site’s surroundings to provide inspiration. The winding bed lines were created by following the site’s existing topography, while natural sandstone boulders were added to retain the grading necessary to show off the home’s unique features. Within the curvilinear beds, a mix of native and beneficial perennials and shrubs were chosen to create a beautiful and sustainable planting plan that will only improve with time. Linear sandstone stepping-stones connect the concrete paving and home entrances, emphasizing the home’s modern design. The surrounding property was finished with a combination of sodded lawn and a native prairie seed mix, minimizing the need for lawn care and further harmonizing aesthetics with nature.
