Congress Lake Project

Congress Lake was a challenging landscape renovation in Northeast Ohio. Responding to the unique architecture and extreme topography, this design utilized natural materials to create new connections and intimate spaces for the homeowners to enjoy year-round. Leading to the front door, a sandstone pathway was created to connect the existing front steps to the new driveway, while sandstone outcroppings were installed to retain the site’s existing grade. New lighting was installed to light the driveway and highlight the new native trees planted around the property. Visitors to the site will follow the large format sandstone and salvaged curbstone pathway around the garage to reach Congress Lake’s main patio. Featuring a built-in gas firepit and open dining area, this space relies on bouldering to reclaim functional backyard territory despite the site’s challenging topography. Hidden away is Congress Lake’s main focal point: a large water feature built into the existing grade. Featuring multiple waterfalls, reclaimed sandstone, and pockets of trailing plantings, this impressive structure adds a touch of zen to the entire space.
